PATHWAY TO REVELATIONS

Why, and what is the purpose of Pentecost?

Easton's Bible Dictionary
Pentecost
i.e., "fiftieth", found only in the New Testament (Ac 2:1; 20:16; 1Co 16:8). The festival so named is first spoken of in Ex 23:16 as "the feast of harvest," and again in Ex 34:22 as "the day of the first Fruits" (Nu 28:26). From the sixteenth of the month of Nisan (the second day of the Passover), seven complete weeks, i.e., forty-nine days, were to be reckoned, and this feast was held on the fiftieth day. The manner in which it was to be kept is described in Le 23:15-19; Nu 28:27-29. Besides the sacrifices prescribed for the occasion, everyone was to bring to the Lord his "tribute of a free-will offering" (De 16:9-11). The purpose of this feast was to commemorate the completion of the grain harvest. Its distinguishing feature was the offering of "two leavened loaves" made from the new corn of the completed harvest, which, with two lambs, were waved before the Lord as a thank offering.
The day of Pentecost is noted in the Christian Church as the day on which the Spirit descended upon the apostles, and on which, under Peter's preaching, so many thousands were converted in Jerusalem (Ac 2).
Acts 2:1-47 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. And they were all amazed and marveled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galileans? And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God. And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meanest this? Others mocking said, these men are full of new wine. But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words: For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day. But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke: The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come: And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know: Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain: Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it. For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved: Therefore, did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover, also my flesh shall rest in hope: Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance. Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulcher is with us unto this day. Therefore, being a prophet and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne; He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption. This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses. Therefore, being by the right hand of God exalted and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear. For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The LORD said unto my Lord, sit thou on my right hand, Until I make thy foes thy footstool. Therefore, let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles. And all that believed were together and had all things common; And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, Praising God, and having Favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.
THE GIFT OF THE HOLY GHOST... (Kj).
Let me say this, I feel that this Person, yes, the Holy Ghost is... The Invisible God, which, as this says...Exodus 33:20 And he said, thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.
The Purpose of God is... John 14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, if a man loves me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
We cannot see the face of God, and...1 John 4:12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.
We hear many tell is, "No Man Is Perfect" which we identify our flesh as, whom and who we are!
The flesh will never enter the Kingdom of God... 1 Corinthians 15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
Flesh has been Corrupted by Sin, and therefore Sin, along with our flesh, cannot see God.
As the above states, our flesh, cannot enter the kingdom of God, so, there is Another Person that, as the above states, which is Perfection.
That Perfection is "LOVE" which is God!
Therefore, when we believe "In Jesus Christ" we are believing in the "Invisible God", and as we believe in God, God, the Invisible God, which is God, came to be manifested in Flesh, just as we have flesh, God took on Flesh as, "A Son Of God", yet, his flesh knew no sin, and sin could not enter his flesh.
Jesus tells the "Young Rich Man" a Ruler, and a "Keeper of All the Commandants" Jesus says... Mt 19:16 ¶ And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?
Mt 19:17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
Mt 19:18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,
Mt 19:19 Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Mt 19:20 The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?
Mt 19:21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.
Mt 19:22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.
Mt 19:23 ¶ Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Mt 19:24 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
Mt 19:25 When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved?
Mt 19:26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, with men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
"With men this is impossible"
God allowed himself first, speaking of the "Law" God allowed, and wrote who he is, "UPON TABLES OF STONE", which was written with "The Finger of God"!
Exodus 31:18 And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God.
As the above is a reference to the verse were, above, when God tells Moses that he cannot see "The Face of God": or as John writes, that "No Man hath Seen God at any time", which this included Adam, and Eve, neither Adam and Eve, has never seen God, or the Face of God.
John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
On the Day of Pentecost, the Holy Ghost, the "Invisible God" The Spirit of the Holy Ghost, came upon, and with the "Finger of God" writes "The Words of The Father" those Words that Jesus Christ speaks, writes them, "NOT ON TABLES OF STONE, BUT UPON, AND IN THE HEARTS OF THOSE 120 THAT WERE IN THE UPPER ROOM".
Peter tells them...Acts 2:16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel.
Joel 2:28-32 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit. And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.
God, he always, many years before, he "Foretells" of "Coming Events" as Peter declares.
Now, Peter was just a "Fisherman, and it is said that Peter was very "Unlearned" uneducated!
What was it that Peter "Refers to Joel the Prophet"?
Had Peter read the "Old Testament" throughout, every page, every word?
Peter did not live back when Moses, and Elijah, lived, and yet, Upon the Mountain...Mt 17:1 ¶ And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,
Mt 17:2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.
Mt 17:3 And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.
Mt 17:4 Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.
Mt 17:5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.
Mt 17:6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid.
Mt 17:7 And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid.
Mt 17:8 And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.
How did Peter recognize Moses, and Elijah?
Peter, Jesus Tells...John 1:42 And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone.
A Stone is, especially the "Chief Corner Stone, are valuable in laying the foundation of "The Church"
Jesus says...Matthew 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Most say that Jesus is building upon Peter, per say, but Jesus is building upon a Foundation, building his Church, which with any building, there must be a Solid Foundation, a foundation that will hold the building.
It is said that a building is as Good as "Its Foundation", meaning that if there is a weak, or bad foundation, the building will not stan firm.
Of course, Jesus is the "Chief Corner Stone, which the Corner stone is, when speaking of Masonry, a brick layer, he starts the wall with a Corner Brick, and goes to the next corner, and stretched a line, a Straight line, and then he lays a layer of brick according to the line.
Zechariah 1:16 Therefore thus saith the LORD; I am returned to Jerusalem with mercies: my house shall be built in it, saith the LORD of hosts, and a line shall be stretched forth upon Jerusalem.
The Prophets are using a "Man Made Building" and "Real-estate to, show, and foretell of a building of God that is to be Built, which the Temple of Solomon, and of course, the Beautiful Temple that the Discipled Shows to Jesus...Matthew 24:1-2 And Jesus went out and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple. And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
You see, Jesus was foretold from the very beginning, "IN FACT, JESUS IS THE BEGINNING, AND THE END".
As this says... Genesis 1:1 In the beginning (IN JESUS CHRIST) God created the heaven and the earth.
The "Word of God" which this says... John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
"spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit"
Unless you understand that the Holy Ghost is God, was the Word of God that Jesus is Speaking, while he was "Manifested in Flesh" and that, as this says..."the flesh profited nothing", as we look at a "Great TV Evangelist" and people flock to them by the "Thousands" and tell everyone how Great this Man of God is, we are actually bringing God down to "Nothing", as "Flesh is nothing" cannot "Profit God" at all.
This is why Jesus tells the "Commandant Keeper" to "NOT CALL HIM GOOD, AS GOOD IS GOD ONLY"
The next time you tell someone about another person, saying... Boy, He's a Good Man", listen to what Paul writes about the Good that he is... Romans 7:18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
Paul is saying that his flesh is "NOT GOOD"AND GOD IS NOT IN HIS FLESH.
HOW CAN THIS BE, YOU MAY ASK?
That is hard to understand, especially those that are in flesh, and are "Not Known by God".
Jesus, with the rich man, as he calls Jesus "Good Master", this rich commandant keeper, he must feel that he is a "Good Person" and "Many have told him how Great, How Good he has lived his life!
Yes, it was great that he kept all the commandants, and Jesus "beheld him, and love him" yet Jesus says... Mark 10:21 Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.
This hit the Apostles right smack dab int the face, and heart, as they, yes, they think, and had been taught that anyone that keeps the commandants, and has gotten Rich, was "Surely Going to be with God, after they die.
Mark 10:26 And they were astonished out of measure, saying among themselves, who then can be saved?
Today, even today, the Church as we know it, most of the churches, they want a "Man' that is Wealthy to Rule Over Them.
Compare Jesus to this Young Rich Commandant Keeper, and you can see that Wealth is not the "Factor in, whether you are going to heaven, or not".
Jesus left all, Riches beyond anyone's imagination, streets of Gold, came down to take a wash pan, wash the disciples' feet, even washing Judas Iscariot's feet.
Jesus, while in the flesh, his flesh was the "Veil"...Hebrews 10:20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh.
God, all the Sacrifices of Animals, and Offering that was made to Consecrate, or Symbolic of taking away the filth of the flesh, God had no Pleasure in all of this... Hebrews 10:6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.
But, when Jesus is Offered, his body, his flesh, offered upon the Cross... Isaiah 53:10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.
That flesh, Symbolic, was the "Veil", not the "Veil" that Ripped from the top to the bottom, which the "High Priest" goes through "Once a Year" for "Himself, and the People" which could not "Take away their sins" not even the "Law" God writing himself, his words upon the "Tables of Stone "as Jesus tells the "commandant keeper" which this man tells Jesus that his body of flesh is God, or Good, a Good master.
In other words, God allowed himself in the form of the Law, to be in the hands of the man, in the flesh, yet he "God" was for this Purpose... 2 Corinthians 3:9 For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory.
The Law, which is God, in the hands of flesh is, for the Purpose of Condemning the Sin in our flesh.
The law in the flesh is for this also... 2 Corinthians 3:7 But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not steadfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance, which glory was to be done away:
Just exactly what the Lord tells Adam and Eve, and why he tells Adam, "Don't go near this tree"...Genesis 3:3 But of the fruit of the tree, which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
This is why Adam and Eve hid themselves... Genesis 3:10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
That Voice Walked, and as He Walked, yes, this was God, this was "The Holy Ghost" walking in the Garden of Eden, and could be heard, and today, this voice of God walking, up and down in your "Perfected Love' can be "Heard"
The "Many" that say to Jesus... Matthew 7:22-23 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
These are "Hiding, Naked of Truth, and have hidden themselves among the Self-righteous trees, which is People, as those tress in the Garden, they were People.
Jesus doesn't know the "Many"... I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
You see, Jesus found the "Many" making merchandise of those in the Temple, and Jeus overthrew the tabled of the Moneychangers, right after he does his "First Miracle" which he Turns the Water into Wine' at a wedding!
I have much written about this wedding, and what this means, and how Jesus, and why he turns the water into wine, if you have read, or will search the website, you can find what God has Revealed to me.
